Stripes and Seahorses

What I Wore:
Tank: Target - $15
Cardigan: Target - $16
Shorts: Target - $15
Belt: from a pair of pants
Wedges: Target - $7
Monogram necklace: Amazon - $43
Gem necklace: Target - $9
Earrings: Target - $4

I've been compensating for my short hair by trying to dress really girly. I do feel like short hair can get away with more -- it's like having an ironic mom haircut in my mid-twenties creates an expectation that I wear (and can get away with) more quirky clothing. I promise this is the last psychoanalysis of my short hair that you'll read.

I ran into a couple of my friends (both were bridesmaids in my wedding) at Target -- totally unplanned -- and they flipped (in a good way) over my hair! They were the first of my girlfriends to see it, so it was a make-it-or-break-it experience.

Also...my husband and I might have the same haircut and style now...

At least he has a goatee to tell us apart...

That's how we roll, yo.
XO,

You are definitely rocking the short hair! I bet it would look super cute to wear some over-the-top hair accessories(flowers, bows, clips) OR get some colored high-lights put in. One of my employees has a really short hair cut in a similar color to yours and she gets red(like red red, not copper like mine) high lights put in the front.

I totally love this! Your haircut definitely suits you, and your outfit is amazing! I love a bit of quirkiness, and you are rocking it here!

I love the haircut. Not everyone can pull off short hair but it looks GREAT on you! Shows off your eyes and beautiful skin! Rock it!

A+ for the quirky pattern mixing!

That cardigan is SINGING to me! Love, love the new cut!

Such a fun combination...and I love the seahorses!

Seeing the side by side I like your short hair best.

Cute haircut!! I'm planning on chopping all of mine off once we've moved. Long hair is such a pain to take care of.
Also, I have been eyeing that exact cardigan from Target for a while now. Love it!

This cardigan is just too cute! And I love the way you layered your necklaces :)

Love the seahorse pattern and stripes together, along with your layered necklaces!

Seahorses! I need to chop off all my hair so I can wear seahorses. Of course, it wouldn't be an ironic mom haircut because, well... I AM a mom. I think I like your hair even more the more I see it, though!

First time commenter, long time reader. The haircut looks like it gives you more even more confidence and sassiness! You're smile is so radiant! Love your blog!

You are tooooooo cute! That last photo is making me think a little of Arya from Game of Thrones, in the best way possible. Your hair makes your eyes look huge. I love it. (And don't worry so much about the androgyny thing. My hair now is often shorter than my bf's. I just roll with it and yell at him to get a cut, haha.)

OMG, look at how skinny you are. Im so jealous! I need to get on board with this fitness ordeal!!

Love the haircut. I wish I could pull off short hair! Adore the cardi.

The cut is great! It brings so much more focus to your beautiful face, especially your eyes. I've had short hair since I was 19 (mid-30s now) and I'll never look back.

I saw that cardigan at Target a few weeks ago and immediately thought of you :-) You should take that as a compliment :-)

Whitney said...

Aww! That's so sweet! Seahorses have long been my favorite. :)

Whitney said...

Thank you so much -- you are too kind! I definitely foresee this hair staying around for a while!

Whitney said...

Thanks so much! The cardigan is a lot of fun!

Do you know how much I love you for this comment? I adore Anne Hathaway.

Whitney said...

Oh pishposh, lady. You're probably the same size as I am.

Whitney said...

ha! You're right--the eyes in my last picture kind of echo her features. :)

Thanks so much for your email -- I'm still digesting! haha!

You are so sweet. I'm glad you took the time to leave me a comment! :) Thank you!

I love seahorses! You're so funny! I think anyone can wear seahorses -- I just feel like my short hair is giving me a new perspective on what I can "pull off"...or it makes my outfits look entirely different!

Whitney said...

Thanks so much, Megan!

Whitney said...

I'm definitely a fan of this cardigan! I hope I can find a lot of ways to wear it! Thanks, Rachel!

Long hair became more of a burden than an asset (at least for me). I'm so glad I made the decision to give it to someone else! haha!

My Target put them all on clearance (I didn't even see them in the "normal" section!) and they were all gone with only one Small left, so I snatched it up!

:) I think I agree with you. I only ever wore it in ponytails or braids...it was too high maintenance for me.

Whitney said...

I love the seahorses dress that you picked up! Too adorable!

Whitney said...

I'm a big fan of seahorses and cardigans, so the combination of the two makes for quite an awesome piece of clothing! :) I'm so glad you started your own blog! I'm adding you to Feedly so I can keep up with you!

Woo! So far I have a 4.0 from Amber! :)

Thank you so much! You are too kind. :) I'm enjoying the change, for sure!

I think my haircut has made me more drawn to quirky! :) Thanks, Inge!

YES! I have been playing around with headbands and clips a lot. I've thought about highlights, but one thing at a time, right? haha! I've never dyed my hair, so I'm a little nervous to try that on top of the short hair. :)

Whitney said...

Thanks so much! I'm definitely loving it!

You are so darn beautiful. I'm still in love with your short hair...and it's making me wonder if I should just go for the pixie cut I've been lusting after for so long...

Whitney said...

you and and youre husband- so cute! And honestly, not everyone can pull of the pixie cut, but you do so well! It is honestly so adorable! (Sorry I'm commenting on this late. I am always behind on my blog reading)

Whitney said...

I adore my sweet husband! Thanks!

You are so sweet! Never worry about commenting late -- I always read them (even if they get buried and I forget to respond!) :)

I think you could pull it off...hmmm...Brynn with a pixie. I say yes! :)
