Second Wind

What I Wore:
Monogram necklace: Amazon - $43
Flower neckace: Target - $17
Shirt: LOFT - $9
Skirt: Land's End - gift (2010)
Shoes: TOMS - $40
Belt: LOFT - $10
Earrings: Target - $4

I know I've kind of talked about my hair in every post, but I really feel like it has given me a second wind, sartorially speaking of course. I have never had a life-changing haircut before, but I really think this one is. I think I've always dressed for hair like this, and now that I have it, my outfits make more sense on me -- and look like they belong. Does that make sense at all?

XO,

When you started blogging, you described your style as Emma Pillsbury. More and more when I check the site lately, I feel like your channeling Mary Margaret (from Once Upon a Time). Your look is still simple and sweet, but, especially with this new hairdo, there's a secret edginess as well. :)

Makes a lot of sense! I feel like short haircuts become a part of the look more than a ponytail might! I love that skirt and was surprised it was from Land's End! Do you like your TOMS wedges? I have a pair of their ballet flats and they fell apart after a few weeks!

Makes complete sense! And I agree, your adorable outfit, matches your adorable hair perfectly!

Ahhhh, it totally does (make sense, that is)! And It's not weird at all to think of your cut as life-changing. Mine certainly was! I had hair dreams for weeks, and was kind of obsessed with it--touching it, styling it, looking at it. All. the. time. Honestly, I think your face was made for this cut :)

It totally makes sense! And I see what you mean. (I also love that you used "sartorially" in a sentence.) :)

Cuz your hair is the cutest! I think it takes your outfits to the next level, brings a whole new level of chic!

The mint looks so summery and cheerful. And those earrings are awesome.

Totally makes sense :). Every time you have a new post, I think about cutting my hair too, cause somehow all your outfits look even cuter with the new hair. It's so adorable!

I absolutely agree with you, my dear. When I have gotten more drastic haircuts before, I just feel so alive and refreshed! I think you're right, that your outfits just look that much more perfect now that your hair matches them! I adore it.

I totally understand about the hair. After I got my hair cut I felt like I had a hair style, not just strands hanging from my head.

I secretly wish that my comment a few months back about your hair looking like it was a bob, convinced you to cut it. allll because of me lol, jk!

I love the combination of mint and gray in this outfit!
No need to apologize for talking about your hair--I myself just devoted a post to my latest haircut!

I like how your earrings and belt match, and I'm envious of your gorgeous skirt collection! :) It's exciting how your new 'do has invigorated your sense of style.

I've been building up my skirt collection for years! :) Thanks so much!

Mint looks great with anything! Thanks for understanding (and empathizing!). :)

It's possible that it was some kind of subliminal push to do it! :)

Whitney said...

Exactly! Totally agree with you!

It's like someone pushed a refresh button! I liked having long hair, but I didn't like fixing it...ha!

Whitney said...

Aw, thanks, Kathi! Let me know if you decide to go through with it! :)

Whitney said...

Exactly what I was going for! Gotta hold onto summer while I can!

Whitney said...

Thanks so much, Maria! I think that having long hair is great if you fix it...it was time for me to find a lower-maintenance haircut!

I can occasionally throw in a fun Webstery word just to make sure you guys get some big word fulfillment in. ha!

Whitney said...

That's so funny! I haven't really had any dreams about it, but I've been rather obsessive over playing with it and styling it. Thanks so much for the sweet compliment! I want to keep it short for a while, for sure!

Whitney said...

Thanks so much, Megan! Here's hoping I can arrange my work clothes to go with my hair!

Whitney said...

I completely agree with you! Short haircuts definitely give off a different vibe!

I loved my TOMS wedges so much that I kept them in my closet even though they gave the back of my heels awful blisters. The sizing is definitely weird (or my feet are) and I've had that issue with the TOMS flats and wedges. I really like the idea of them--and I love the "buy one give one" aspect, but I had to give them away after I wore this outfit. :(

I think you hit the nail on the head! It's amazing how much my style and taste has evolved in such a short time! I totally take the Mary Margaret comment as a compliment -- I really did like her style on the show! :) Thanks so much!

That's true! This haircut definitely showcases my jewelry more!

Thanks so much! Forever21 has some pretty adorable earrings!

I'm glad that you understand! Thanks, Tara!
