De-Poofifying Belts

What I Wore:
Tank: Target - $5
Cardigan: birthday gift
Belt: LOFT - $12
Shorts: Target - $15
Shoes: Birthday gift
Gem necklace: Target - $9

When I first put on this outfit, I didn't think to put a belt with it. After fixing my hair and make-up, I decided something was just missing (loose cardigans have a tendency to make my body look similarly poofy), so I went back to my closet and stood by my belt rack until I decided on this one. I think it added a fun touch to the outfit and thinned it out, so I still have the loose and comfortable look, but I don't look like a marshmallow.

XO,

I love this look! At first I thought you were wearing a black dress and then realized it was a shirt/shorts combo. I'm going to have to steal this idea for one of my comfy outfits soon!

Oooh I like the classy neutral colors of this outfit! The belt was a great addition and I love the polka dots!

Walking away and soothing myself from closet envy in 3....2....1.... Ok. I'm good. This is gorgeous.

The title of this post gave me the giggles. But I'm glad you added the belt, it's such a fun but casual look (and gives you a shape that isn't "round")!

I have a long sleeve cardigan shaped a lot like this one. I'll have to remember this trick when it's cool enough to wear it again. I honestly never thought of wearing a belt with it!

I have a pretty boyish shape (i.e., little waist definition), so belts have become my new best friend. I'm still trying to build up my belt wardrobe--I love that one from LOFT!

It's amazing how a belt can pull everything together. I've steered clear of them in the past since it breaks up the illusion of height and I'm short. Recently I started wearing them anyway because they are slimming which trumps elongating in my book. ;)

HAHA I love the title of this post! But you are right- that belt totally transforms the look! I bet the photo side by side with and without the belt is a huge difference! So slimming! The whole look is so chic- gorgeous!

I thought the title was fun. ;) I thoroughly enjoy inventing words...! haha!
You're right -- I never think to do a side by side comparison until after I write my post!

Monochromatic belts can have the effect of both, I think! My husband is a big fan of belts, and I don't think I was until we started dating!

Belts are great to play up or help out any shape! As long as you know where to put it, right? :)

So glad I could inspire you to try something new! Let me know how it works out! :)

ha! You guys know I couldn't resist making up a word for the title, right? :) Round might work for some, but I'll stick to my belts.

You're too kind, sweet Josie! Your closet definitely has envious qualities from what I've seen! :)

I'm a big fan of the all-black-Audrey-Hepburn look. Polka dots are just fun!

Polka dots can make anything look fantastic, right? :)

Can't wait to see how you put it together, Brandy! :)
