If you asked me my favorite color when I was a child, I would have responded with "pinknpurple." I was convinced that pink and purple belonged together and existed as a complimentary duo in the color realm.
It gets a little funnier (or weirder depending on your perspective), because I always hated Valentine's Day because I thought that pink didn't belong with red--purple was a much better color for love because it went with pink! So, I decided to honor my childhood silliness by wearing red and purple. I'm still not fully convinced that Valentine's Day is an okay holiday...especially given its dark origins (yes it's an NPR link). Fins and I don't celebrate it, but we still acknowledge the two days on which we dispute which one is the correct day we started "officially" dating (does it count as the third if it was midnight on the second in the Eastern time zone?) and our anniversary.
Want another cute/hilarious/odd story from my childhood?
I thought cows rolled their own hay bales. For some reason, I totally pictured cows spending their days picking grass, piling it up, and rolling it with their noses like we make snowmen. I didn't realize that there was a machine until much later in my adolescence. It totally ruined the magic, guys.
Don't worry. I'm much smarter now. Or at least I know how to pretend to be smarter. Just don't tell my students.
XO,

Cute outfit! I love the NPR link & your nerdy history stuff lately! From a fellow history teacher who also loves fashion!
Love the outfit! I can't wait to read more about this history of this holiday. Regardless, have a lovely day.
I love that nearly every blogger I've read today has said that she doesn't celebrate Valentine's Day! I never would have thought that! And your belt is AMAZING.

pinknpurple was a great strategy for ValDay!
I thought so. :)
That's so interesting! I thought that Fins and I were being so rebellious. ;)
It's a pretty awesome belt, for sure! I made sure to pick it up in both colors when they offered it!
Ha! I'm such a history nerd! :) I hope you found it interesting -- and I hope your day was fabulous!
Thanks, Heather! I'm so glad someone shares in the nerdiness around here. :)
You are so cute!!! I love your polka dot skirt...and your belt...and your shirt. I totally remember being really upset about pink and red being the Valentine's Day colors, because I hated how they looked together. I absolutely was all about the pinknpurple too. :)
Solidarity in anti Valentine's Day colors! :)
