Over/Under

What I Wore:
Shirt: Old Navy - my sister
Cardigan: Old Navy - my sister
Pants: JCP - $25
Belt: From a skirt
Mint necklace: Francesca's - $22
W necklace - Altar'd State - $3
Earrings: Forever21 - $5 (pack of 3)
Shoes: Tory Burch - $50

My sister and I had a HUGE clothes swap. I got rid of more clothes and so did she. We exchanged our giveaway bags and I came away with a few things (so did she), and then we went shopping to help her start her wardrobe over. She offered to pay me for my help (goober), and I obviously declined, but she insisted on sticking a few things for me in her shopping cart (I protested vociferously, but you don't understand how hard it is to say "no" to women in my family). This is, after all, my second attempt with gingham, but I already like this shirt a lot better!

When I put this outfit together, I decided that I didn't want to tuck in the button-down, so I chose to belt the shirt to make it a little more put-together. However, I couldn't decide whether I liked the belt under the cardigan or over it. I wore it under most of the day, but then swapped after lunch (mostly because I had a big lunch and I thought the extra cling from the cardigan would make me look a little more comfortably full and less food baby

Love this combination and the pieces are those that I already have... I want to recreate it! Perfect teaching attire!

I like the under the cardigan look better because it makes your waist look really small and gives you that marilyn monroe vavavoom figure.

I love the belt around the sweater. Totally works. And I love the shirt.

Happy Monday!

Love your gingham top and that nail polish color is beautiful!

I have the hardest time deciding on belt positioning sometimes!! Over or under the cardigan? Cardigan open or buttoned in middle? #BloggerProblems

oooh, I'm digging the mint/black/brown combo going on here. I don't own any mint! i feel like I would like it though.

and I think I like the belt under? im not sure. I like it both ways

Cute pants, Whitney! They look great on you. That shirt and cardigan were great finds, too. I really like the look of the belt under the cardigan. It's subtle in the best of ways!

Your mint cardi is so pretty, the perfect color. I always have the same issue with belting cardigans...but it honestly looks nice both ways!

I like the belt under the shirt a little better. I'm in LOVE with the color of your cardigan. It's my new favorite color. Luckily there seems to be a lot coming out in the color for spring!

I like it under the cardigan. I see other bloggers wear belts over the cardigan all the time and I like the way it looks. But, on me (and in this situation for you) I like the belt under.

I agree. It felt much more comfortable and natural under.

I agree with you -- I like the under better! This cardigan has the perfect vibrant color for spring--I'm loving it, too!

Mint is such a great color! You belt well, for real! :)

These pants have been a lifesaver as far as a well-fitting fall-back goes. :)

You should own mint. That's ridiculous. How can you be a style blogger and not own any mint?!

haha! We should create some kind of hashtag fun with #bloggerproblems. :)

I really like this gingham shirt! I'm excited to wear it! The nail polish is an Essie color--can't remember the name of it off the top of my head, but they have some great colors!

I'm glad that someone voted for the "over"! :) I like it both ways, but I think the under belting felt better...but it could've been the food baby. Who knows?

Whitney said...

Oooh, then I'll definitely wear it under forever if it has that effect! haha!

I hope you do recreate it! :) It was definitely a perfect outfit for all the bending and moving and sitting and standing and walking (and..!) that I did.
