Today's Women Who Work Feature is Bonnie from Mini Me Style. You've seen her before through a guest post for me, but I love her so much I had to have her twice. Bonnie is absolutely gorgeous--and she's one of the nicest bloggers out there! Be sure to stop by her blog and say hi!
Hello, Along the Lines of Style readers! I’m excited to be part of the “Women Who Work” feature, as I adore Whitney and it gives me an opportunity to share a little bit about how my style has been evolving this year.
Hello, Along the Lines of Style readers! I’m excited to be part of the “Women Who Work” feature, as I adore Whitney and it gives me an opportunity to share a little bit about how my style has been evolving this year.
My name is Bonnie and I blog over in my little corner of the
internet at Mini Me Style. One of
my new year’s resolutions this year was to break my self-admitted habit of
dressing like a slob. I’m a PhD
student and teach undergrad courses at a large university in the southwest
where the dress code is virtually non-existent , and I had developed an awful
habit of pretty much living in yoga pants and workout gear. My blog has become my way of keeping
myself accountable to dress in a more professional manner, and it has had the
added benefit of introducing me to some amazing women across the internet(s). Although profs, instructors and TAs are
pretty much left to their own devices as far as what they wear at my university, I’ve found
(especially as a young female) that students are less likely to take too casual
an attitude with me when I’m dressed as a professional.
I’ve put together a couple of collages for you that showcase
some of my recent workplace and “for fun” outfits. As far as my professional attire is concerned, I’ve been
investing in classic pieces that will last me a while: pencil skirts, cardigans,
blazers and belts to tie things together. I’m very short (5’) and finding pants
that fit well can be a challenge, so my work wardrobe consists of a LOT of
skirts.
I’ve also been letting myself have fun with affordable
trendy pieces (I forgot to mention above how poor grad students can be!) on the
weekends, and have added a few statement necklaces, a little neon, some peplum
and lots of mint to my closet.
I host a couple of fashion features over at my blog:
Academically Inclined, which highlights women working in a range of positions
in academia and how they stay stylish while adhering to dress codes (check out Whitney here), and a
Petite Fashion Bloggers series that highlights how petite women dress for their
shorter frames – I’m always looking for ladies to feature so let me know if
you’d like to be included. And
regardless, please stop by and say “hi” – I love meeting new friends! Thank you for reading, and thank you
for having me, Whitney!
