Ultimate Basic

What I Wore:
Shoes: Shoe Dept - $30
Jeans: Target - $15
Belt: from a pair of shorts
Shirt: NY&Co - $15 (bought with giftcard)
Necklace: eBay - $15
Monogammed "W" studs: Colorado souvenir - $15
Purse: c/o OASAP

I think that a shirt like this should be the cornerstone of any closet; it's the ultimate basic and it goes with everything. Nothing beats a crisp white button-down. You can quote me on that.

You can also quote me as saying that I go re-pin crazy anytime I see an outfit with a white button-down. I freely admit that I may or may not have an overwhelming attraction to overcome, and its gotten to the point where I think I might be wearing a Pin-spired outfit, but I don't even know which outfit to attribute the inspiration. I need to take a Pinterest break. I'm not proud of the amount of time I spent on that time-drain this summer...

I am proud, however, to say that I wore this shirt all day and didn't get anything on it. This is a new development in the world of Whitney. Seriously. My hair, however, only lasted in the humidity and rain long enough for me to take pictures, drive to work, and walk inside. You win some, you lose some.
XO,

I am ashamed to admit that I just added a classic white shirt to my wardrobe...took me long enough, didn't it! You look adorable, love that necklace and the bag!

I am like you- I repin a white button down all the time. I might as well create an entire board devoted to them! This outfit is perfect, and bravo to you- no spills or anything, that's an accomplishment in itself!

You look very cute in this outfit and I'm also loving your orange bag! I totally agree that a white shirt is a staple for every closet. You can add any accessory of any shape and color to dress up or down... just like a white canvas!

I love this outfit a ton. The heels are amazing and the shirt is perfect. I'm loving your hairstyle also.

Only thing wrong i feel is the jeans. The jeans are too small i feel. Because you are wearing skinny jeans you can see the lines at your knee bunching. That means that your leg is not the right size for the jean you are wearing and the jean is fighting the leg size and making it look like the legs are bigger than they are. I would recommend a straight leg, boot cut or wide leg jean so you get none of that bunching. Other than that the outfit is perfect.

I want that bag! I love bows soooooo much. I also love crisp white shirts, but I have a problem keeping them white(and I don't just mean by stains). They seem to get grey after just a few washings....any tips on how to keep them looking white? I once tried to bleach my favorite white blouse and the bleach at away at the delicate fabric.....:-(

This is really darling - you can't go wrong with a classic white button down. And that bright bag is such a fun pop of color. You look wonderful!

Yesterday I was shopping with my best friend (whose style is the complete opposite of mine) and I found the perfect cream silky button up. The rest of the time I was like "I'm so excited about my new white button up!" Who says that? Weirdos, that's who.

Whitney said...

I would have totally said that! :) I think we'd be awesome shopping pals.

I forget it, too! I have been shying away from them because they almost seem too easy to style--but I shouldn't ignore it! I love it!

Whitney said...

Thanks so much! I'll definitely have to look for your list! :)

ha! Yes! I made it an entire day without ruining it! haha!
I LOVE this bubble necklace. I have to hold back from wearing it every day...

Thanks, Ruby! I really enjoyed wearing this outfit!

I completely agree--white button downs are super classic! :)
The bag is so fun. I've never been a big orange fan, but for some reason this one just spoke to me. Not literally spoke to me. That would be odd.

Oh gosh, I may not be the best person to ask! I just wash all of my whites together and put a Shout Color Catcher sheet in the wash with them. We use a special whites detergent sometimes, but I am probably not careful enough with my whites.

I love your description! You're so right. White blouses are almost too easy to style, but you can wear them so many ways that it never gets boring!

I would totally follow that board. :)
You have no idea how clumsy and accident prone I am. This is probably my proudest accomplishment this year. Or close.

I've had one for a while, but the fit is a little odd and it's hard to tuck in. I was so glad to find this one recently--it's perfect! So, no judgement here! :)
