The Sartorial Rain Dance

What I Wore:
Skirt: Target - $16
Belt: Forever21 - $5
Sleeveless Button-Down: NY&Co - $4
Cardigan: NY&Co - $20
Shoes: Target - $15
Necklace: J.Crewish via eBay - $20

I'm currently writing this with a massive headache. My head is about to explode and all I can think about is getting some caffeine and salt into my system. So I am waiting on the Ibuprofen to kick in while I eat some popcorn and guzzle a Diet Dr. Pepper.

Thankfully, my brain works like a back-up hard drive and what I would have said in my non-vegetative state is something like:
I read somewhere that orange is "in" for fall. I happen to own not one, but two short sleeve orange cardigans. I applaud myself for being consistent in taste and realizing on two separate occasions that orange was a great addition to my wardrobe, but I'm still lost as to why I need two of them. Perhaps something will happen to one of them that will make me thankful I have a second ready to take its place...though, I've already tried to shrink the newer one in the dryer. Perhaps my subconscious was trying to make myself feel better for the wardrobe redundancy.
Apparently I like to use big words when I have a headache...
...but get sloppy strange verb tense shifts. Hm.

This outfit is my way of ushering in fall. Olive green. Orange. A little touch of yellow and some rustic browns. If that doesn't scream fall, I don't know what does.

XO,

Cute! You've given me an outfit idea for one of my j.crew pencil skirts. Hope your headache is long gone by now. Teachers cannot get sick or ever feel bad! :)

I love this look. I just bought an orange cardigan on final sale from limited and I was trying to decide how to wear it. I might have to do something like this. Ps-I went to goodwill yesterday and I got three knit jersey casual dresses for $5 each(from dressbarn originally)...and one of them still has tags on it! I'm going to go to Target on Thursday and pick up a few more!

I really love this combination! That orange cardigan is adorable and if orange is still in for fall, you're are definitely set and ready to go. Hope you get feeling better quick - headaches are never fun!

Adorable, adorable outfit! Perfect for the almost-fall season.

I hope your headache goes away, soon. There's not much worse than a lingering headache that just makes you want to chop your head off.

I love that skirt, and the cardi is perfect with it!

You look like the poster child for the leaves changing! Love the colors on you!

Those fall colors look great on you! I am jealous - I am fair skinned, pink undertones, and blonde hair ... orange/yellow and I don't mix. When I am feeling adventurous I do pale yellow, but that's it.

On a side note - have you ever thought about doing a post on your classroom? (the actual room ... not kids) You are so stylish and organized, so I wonder what your room looks like and how you decorate.

This belt is FANTASTIC!!!!! And on another note, I used to get horrible headaches until I started taking B-12 and iron supplements. I take them at night so they don't upset my stomach...

Love this outfit! You are inspiring me to dig out my white button down!

You look adorable. That belt is so slimming on you :) Did you get another haircut? It looks so shiny!

Oooh, I think I know which one you're talking about! I definitely thought of that one when I saw this in stores..I definitely missed out on the J. Crew one!

Headache is long gone--I feel much better! I think I just needed to relax and let go of some tension. I have pilates tonight and I think that will serve me well. :)

Woo! Can't wait to see how you style all of that! And DANG, you got some great deals!! :)

I'm definitely trying to channel those nice fall hues. Now if only the weather would get there, too. ;)

Thanks! And yes! The headache went away after some chicken noodle soup and a nice toasty bath! :)

Whitney said...

Thanks, Ruby! I'm feeling much better now!

Headaches are the worst! I completely shut down! Thanks, Callie!

I'm really starting to be okay with orange...I have to avoid it because whenever I wear it, people automatically associate me with football teams. That's what I get for living down south. ha!

I couldn't help it! I had to hold myself back from wearing a yellow top instead of the white one. I thought that was crossing the "I'm trying too hard" line. haha!

This made me giggle out loud. :) I'll graciously accept the title.

I wish I could pull off the colors you can! I say wear what you like...and you'll be surprised what you can pull off! I'm trying everything! :)

I have thought about doing that post--and I think you might have given me the little extra push to do it! Soon soon!

Hmmm...I wonder if B-12 and iron would help with energy, too. Well, I know it would, but I wonder if I'm deficient....I'll definitely have to look into that!!!

Whitney said...

Do it! You won't have to dig it out ever again because you will want to wear it with everything. Or at least that's my problem. ;)

Whitney said...

Eek! Thanks!
And no! I just haven't been wearing it down, so when I fix it, it's not damaged. I think my hair gets shocked into submission when I take a break from styling it. Also, I've been drinking about a gallon of water a day and eating a ton of protein...so my hair better be looking awesome. ;)

You think those deals are good? Wait till you see the skirt I scored today. 100% silk originally from Banana Republic....TWO BUCKS! Looks brand spanking new. And I got this gorgeous formal gown for my mom $5(also looks brand new). It's all Heidi's doing. She has inspired me to shop at Goodwill.

You definitely inspired me to get it back into my clothes rotation. :) I love how you styled it with the blazer!!!
