My school has this awesome thing called "Drop Days." Every Wednesday, one subject "drops" class for the day and the students have an opportunity to go to the library to read their book club books or read for pleasure. The teachers also get a semi-break, and we have meetings and teacher-building-activities in the morning, then we have "free time" in the afternoons to grade, plan, and record our curriculum. It's ingenious, I tell you! I always get a lot done on Drop Days, and I feel so revived and refreshed after the mid-week break.
Drop Days are the perfect opportunity to wear my comfy (what can only be described as) pajama dresses. I add a few touches to "class them up," so I look professional, but even with the added cardigan, belt, and necklace, I still feel pretty lazy. Wedges are such a cheat, too! I get the look of heels, but the comfort of flats. Only I know the warm and fuzzy feelings I have whilst sitting in meetings and getting some work accomplished.
Do you have any tips or tricks for staying comfy in the office?

Drop Days sounds amazing....you get one afternoon a week to grade and plan? I only wish, lucky lady :) Your dress is super adorable, I love the stripes!
Whoa, tell me more about Drop Days! Who watches the kids while you get a break to plan? Sounds like a really cool idea!
Not once a week--typically once or twice a semester! The kids have a day off from a subject once a week. So next week, they'll drop science and the next week they'll drop English. It's a pretty awesome system!
It is a cool idea! Sometimes, we'll get a sub. If not, the librarians are responsible for them during the day. Since they're in the library reading, there's not much to manage unless someone just absolutely goes crazy (which really doesn't happen). We're pretty lucky! I love Drop Days!
Do y'all have a pretty small school? I would love to do this (I'm a huge supporter of silent reading!) but can't imagine 1,000+ high school students reading at once. I'd also imagine that middle school students can be scared into behaving better :) Our librarian--who freaks out if teachers sends more than 4 students at a time to the library--would definitely not be able to handle that many students at once. Still, you are DEFINITELY lucky to have this! Hope you have a great day!
Well, it's just one subject at a time. So, on Social Studies Drop Day, the 8th graders go to COPE (a drug-resistance and leadership program we have) and the 7th grade goes to the library. My class sizes are under 20 kids per class...and we've got about 300-400 in the MS, but there's only about 20-30 kids in the library at any time.
Have a great day, too! :)
That dress is too pretty to be a pajama dress! :)

That dress is super cute and looks great with the neutral accents and the mint necklace!

I love this combo...and it might be slightly because I'm pretty sure I've worn something similar before :) I love comfy professional days. I used to have this pair of pinstripe dress pants that were made of real suit material but seriously for some reason felt like pajama pants. The drop days sound great though--what a break and what a great way to encourage the kids to get to the library and read more! :)
You look adorable here. Everything about this dress is just perfect.
There is nothing pajama-y or lazy about this outfit. You look amazing!
wish my kids teachers dressed up a little bit..you look super cute..

I have those same Target wedges in black and they get worn with everything! And I'm amazed at how comfortable they are. Wish I had picked them up in this pretty neutral color. Perfect pairing for this colorful dress. I love the cardigan over the top too! You've got late summer fashion down to an art form, lady!

A pajama dress - love the idea. :) Polished and comfy is a win-win situation.
This looks amazing! I need this outfit :)
my suggestion: get a job that requires a lab coat. works every time.
Drop days sounds awesome! BTW you look great, it definitely shows your running is paying off :) it's inspiring!
This outfit is so cute!! Love the colors of the dress and the length of the cardigan is perfect. That sounds really nice that you get Drop Days - I wish there was something like that in my office!! Maybe Starbucks day? Where I can go work at Starbucks? :)

Drop days are so great! Thank you, Isis! I can definitely see how running is changing my body, but I think that a majority of my weight loss has to do with my eating habits and how much water I've been drinking. I'm so much more conscious about what I'm putting into my body now that I've got a big goal with running!
That's hilarious! Or scrubs. Gosh, you guys get the comfy clothes.
And it's so comfortable!
I've seen so many people call them pj dresses--and I definitely agree with them!
I have these shoes in purple and teal...so I'm definitely a big fan! I wish all of my shoes were this comfy!
Aw, thanks Rosalyn! I imagine it would be harder to dress for younger grades. If I taught elementary ages, I'd probably be dressing as down as possible, ha!
Woo! Thanks!!! :)
Thank you, Ruby!
Great minds think alike....or great fashionistas style alike? :)
Drop days are so great all-round!
I wish I had more cardigans like this--I think I would wear them every day! They really make any outfit look different!
I actually have a dress like this that I wear on weekends to lounge around the house and grade papers/do homework. At one point a few weekends ago, I was tempted to do that to this one, but decided not to for the same reasoning. ;)
This is my favorite...so put together! Love it! http://teachersarenotfrumpy.blogspot.com/
