Au Naturale

What I Wore:
Skirt: Target - $12
Shoes: Target - $8
Shirt: Target - $6
Belt: Target - $17
Cardigan: Target - $6
Monogrammed necklace: Amazon - $43
Earrings: Target - $10

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but my hair is naturally curly. Thanks to the weather we've been getting from all of the tropical storms and the Tropical Storm formerly known as Hurricane Isaac (and the fact that I can't lift my arms long enough to fix my hair because of the bicep and tricep soreness I'm feeling today thanks to BodyPump), I've been wearing my hair up. However, I thought I'd unleash the curls today...and this is what I ended up with at the end of the day. Poof.

Perhaps you can't see it very well. I didn't post a close-up on purpose.
Let me describe it for you.
I look like a poodle. That got crossed with Shirley Temple. And then stuck its paws in an electric socket after taking a bath.
XO,

I think the hair looks fine! And I have that skirt, now I have some more inspiration to wear it! (p.s.- sometimes we have to sacrifice good hair for killer biceps!)

Your curls are absolutely GORGEOUS! Honestly, I would love curls like yours. I think the curls go really well with that outfit--especially the flowy skirt.

Love the curls! We always want what we don't have it seems...I have straigthish hair(a few cowlicks and waves) but I always want it to be curly!! I think your Target has better prices than mine because I never see stuff there(even in clearance section) for as cheap as you seem to get it. I need to come visit your Target(haha)

I'm glad other people like your curls, too. I think they look lovely! As does your outfit.

I'm shaking my head at you girl, because when the picture first popped up the only thing I thought was "gosh her curly hair is GOR-GE-OUS!" So you should rock it more often!! Love this whole look. It says soft and feminine to me, but with your personality it's edgy too. So impressed at how well those skirts look on you--I tried one on and shook my head at myself too, but you look great in them!

Love the hair! Mine is naturally curly too...a big Leo mane for sure.
The outfit is so nice too! :)

I adore your hair, but I know everyone has their own issues that others don't understand :) That high/low skirt is the first one I've seen that I really like. Looks great on you!

I think your hair looks fabulous. But, as a curly-haired girl myself, I know how fast it can go to frizz.

Have a great weekend!

Aw, your hair is so cute when it's curly! But the humidity is never a good thing when it comes to hair. Ugh.

I really like your green skirt! so pretty.

How do you like BodyPump? It seems a little intimidating - like I wouldn't know what weights to use or how to change the weights correctly and all that to the speed of the music. I am more of a Zumba and BodyFlow kinda gal, but I wonder if I'll ever be brave enough for BodyPump!

haha! Thanks! I'm actually okay with my curly hair, it's just hard to control. I'm a little on the OCD side...and I don't do well with hair that likes to be free-spirited. ;)

I LOVE BodyPump! I've been doing it for several years now--it's not intimidating at all. The class leaders should be really good about helping you and telling you when you should go up in weight. Just start small and add more weights as you get comfortable.

Thanks, Kimmie! The South is awful when it comes to humidity. My hair just doesn't quite work down here--straight or curly.

Especially during the rainy days in the South! Everyone's hair looks crazy down here during hurricane season. haha!

So true, Amy! I like that I can wear my hair curly or straight or up...I think straight hair is just easier to tame.

I'm glad you like the skirt! I thought the same thing about it! It's high-low, but it's a little on the subtle side.

haha! I love it! Leo mane--too cute!

Thanks, Laura! I think my curls make me look a lot younger (or at least in person), so I'm careful to make sure I'm giving off the correct professional vibe--ha!

I hope that's a good "mmm." ;)

Whitney said...

Thank you! That's such a sweet compliment!

I occasionally embrace it--I'm a big fan of control and structure...so the curly hair just drives me insane sometimes. haha!

I love how you style your hair! I wish my hair would hold a fake curl.
I live around three Targets and all of them have different prices at different times. It's easy to play chicken with their clothing because it always goes on sale...and I can probably find it cheaper at one of the other two stores. haha!

Whitney said...

Thanks, Marissa! I am thankful for my curls, I just don't let them out of their cage very often. haha!

I loved your P.S.! That is too true! I feel that way all the time.
