Summer Wedding and a Small Crisis

What I Wore:
Dress: Old Navy - $20 (bought in 2009ish?)
Belt: Target - $17
Earrings: Target - $4
Shoes: ShoeDazzle - $20
( I got the shoes for free with a gift certificate from taking a survey)

Big events like weddings are the worst possible day to wake up and feel like nothing in your closet will work.   My reasons for feeling this way ranged from the fact that I don't buy new clothes for special occasions--which is frustrating when the event arrives, but saves money and space in my closet because it forces me to work with things I already have--and, ahem, hormones. I've lost almost fifteen lbs since Christmas (woo running!), but there's nothing like the five pounds of water weight that come with PMS to knock your confidence down a little. **Note to self: Spanx might fix this issue in the future.

Sorry for the TMI, but the point I'm trying to make is that I tried on at least five other dresses and a shirt/skirt combo before digging this dress from the back of my closet. It's cute and easy, but it's not quite the look I wanted to wear at the wedding. I think, though, that this dress did its job and I should probably consider having some kind of "back up dress" like this just in case mother nature decides to strike during another major event.

I got to see a good friend from middle school through high school (also my first boyfriend and the brother of my best friend from high school) get married. As you can see from the reflection in my window, it was a beautiful day for a wedding and I was so happy to be there with his family and witness something so special in the lives of both of them. I wish them, and all of you crazy kids who are married or soon to be married, much joy and happiness.

Found your blog from Simply Sarah :) I think the cobalt color is really gorgeous on you and I LOVE your fun heels! The look totally works for a wedding, even if it wasn't exactly what you were going for. I'm a new follower!

You picked a great dress for a summer wedding. The color is gorgeous, and those heels are something fierce!

Well it's cute! You did a good job of putting something together in the end that you were both comfortable with and that was figure flattering. We all have those days but it's always the worst when there's something happening that you want to look particularly stylish for! I'd wondered when you posted those pictures that were from a different angle on your trip, if you'd toned up some--congrats on the 15--running is fabulous! :)

I am very glad that I remembered I had this dress!

Running has been the most challenging thing I've ever done--but I'm really starting to love doing it (as opposed to hating every step--ha!).

I didn't realize that the wedding was outside--so this dress was perfect! The material is really light and breathable (but still got really wrinkly). I really like the heels, too! ShoeDazzle is pretty great!

Thanks, Clare! I really like the color!

You look gorgeous! I know...that stupid water weight always gets us girls down! ;)

Ha, yes, eventually you'll hit that love-hate exchange...where you hate it that you love it! Keep with it---I loved running when I was on a regular day teaching schedule. Come home after work, throw on the running clothes, and decompress/process the day! ;) PS Your hair looks FAB here too!

You look great! I was in your place last Saturday as I prepared for a coworker's wedding by trying on about seven different dresses. I'm glad it worked out for you though!

Congrats on the weight loss. That's awesome!
