Today's Outfit:
so...tucking the shirt in made a nice little pooch by my belt.
thank you pictures for highlighting that.
What I Wore:
Shirt: Target - $3
Skirt: NY&Co - $15
Shoes: Shoe Dept - $30
Necklace: Francesca's - $22
Belt: Target - $17
Earrings: Forever21 - $3
This skirt is one of the skirts I got with a birthday giftcard. I got $100 to NY&Co and bought over $200 worth of clothes when they had their 40% off sale and I had a $70 off of $150 purchase coupon to use. I got FIVE pencil skirts (all four color variations of the skirt I'm wearing today and a patterned one), a long sleeve white button down (because who doesn't need one?), and a tan short sleeve blouse--and I only paid $6 out of pocket. Booyah! (Do people still say booyah? I feel like that's such a 90s thing. But booyah nonetheless.) I also tracked down a pleated polka dot skirt and ordered it with my birthday money...so I'm swimming in new clothes. I've already started jotting down outfit ideas with just the new skirts--the possibilities seem endless!
I rarely buy clothes "in bulk" like that. As I've mentioned before, I have a "clothing wish list" and I pick them off one item at a time. Occasionally, I'll buy two at a time, but it's been a long time since I've spent a lot on one shopping trip.
How do you shop? Do you buy clothes one at a time as you see something you like? Or do you set aside time to go shopping and get everything you need in one trip?

I just bought the same skirt at NY&C last weekend too. I'm so excited to see some remixing inspiration here. I'm mostly like you - just picking things off the list one by one.
Enjoy your day!

It really depends! I love that skirt on you; it looks great. I'm always on the hunt for pencil skirts. :)
I have been working to get myself away from "impulse" shopping. I use to be soooo bad about that. I try to limit myself to one major shopping trip a month unless I really need something. I like the idea of making a wish list and slowly working your way down it with purchases. And waiting for gift cards and birthday money before making big purchases. Can't wait to see the rest of the skirts you ordered.
This really is an adorable outfit. Love the bright skirt paired with the stripes - perfect combination. And that necklace just won my heart. Adorable, Whitney!
I might stop at one store one day, and then another the next. Or I'll skip weeks at a time and then set aside a Saturday and go shopping for the day (my favorite thing to do). Somehow it always makes me feel like I've spent more though when I shop all day; I guess breaking it up makes me feel less guilty!!! Lookin fab girl

Hi Whitney!
I've been perusing your blog for a few months now...I'm a teacher, too and love your concept here! Super cute outfits and I love the multiple pictures! As far as me and shopping, I feel like I go for weeks (or months) without going, and then I drop a ton of money. Favorite store: Limited....when I have a good coupon of course!
I also write a blog, so check it out. Sometimes it's about teaching, other times about food and health, and other times just random!

I made two large purchases from Modcloth this week after abstaining since January. Modcloth is the only place I drop larger amounts of money on only because they have such unique stuff and sell out of the most fabulous quickly. Other than that I shop in smaller quantities and I thrift with Dossome :) Love the outfit though! That pencil skirt is fab and I can't wait to see the other colors!

That skirt is such a great color!! I'm a constant shopper, buying items I like as I find them. I have anxiety if I spend a lot of money at one time. I just started a shopping ban for the month of June though...it should be interesting!

Hell yes I still say booyah! Who doesn't?!?!?
Your face looks so skinny! Looks like I need to start training for a half. You look great.
I rarely buy things in bulk...I buy one or 2 things at each store. I've been trying to stick to my budget so there isn't too much shopping going on. Except next week when I'm going to be Chicago...the budget will probably go out the window then.
Oh gosh, you are too sweet! It's not easy, I'll be honest! I think it will be worth it when I cross that finish line--but there have been times where I have hated every step. I'm slowly getting to a point where I like it! Let me know if you seriously want to start--I've got an awesome training plan!
I'm actually planning on elaborating about my budget soon--I just realized that I've never really talked about it. Kinda sad for a blog that's supposedly about style on a budget...!
hahahaha! This comment made me laugh so hard! Love it!
I love this skirt more in person than I did online! I almost left it out of my basket because I thought it looked too similar to the pink color--but they are so different!
I might join you for that June ban--I'm starting to get overwhelmed by the amount of clothes in my closet...I sense a purge coming on!
I wish we had a ModCloth nearby (or do you just shop online?). Our little metro area is growing pretty well--we're even getting an H&M soon--so I'm looking forward to getting some variety in our shopping!
I'm so glad you stopped by! I loved browsing through your blog--and added you to my RSS feed.
I really wish we had a Limited near me! I LOVE their clothing--and look for the store when I'm out of town.
I'm always on the hunt for pencil skirts, too! I am starting to get quite the collection--before long they will completely take over my closet!
Great minds think alike! I can't wait to see how you wear it!
I do the exact same thing! I actually wind up not buying anything when I set a day aside because I feel super conscientious about how I'm spending my money...it's almost like I get overwhelmed by the pressure to find awesome things! I have to let them fall into my lap (or I have to have something to search for on purpose!)
I watching "Design Star" on HGTV and, while admiring the skirt that Genevieve Gorder is wearing, I open your post to see that your skirt is practically the same as hers! Great color... and great deals at NY&Co!
I am an impulsive buyer. I go to the market with some to buy things and I come back with bag full of lots of other things. Oh recently I e-shopped a watch for myself, last month it was three new kurtis and just today, I got my self a new shirt. I love this necklace and these shoes of yours.
I adore this look and I'm totally copying it using a different colored skirt. Because I only got the green and pink ones. =)
Woohoo! Copy away! I can't wait to see how you wear them! :)
I have had to work really hard to control the inner impulsive shopper--You should definitely wear your new clothes so we can all see! :)
Great minds think alike! NY&Co has fantastic deals and sales! Especially during the summer (or right before school starts). I've gotten cardigans for less than $5. For real.
