Today is the neon link-up for EBEW. I have mixed feelings about this trend. Part of this throwback trend makes me want to reach for my Lisa Frank trapper-keeper and jam out to some Spice Girls, but the other part of me views the trend as potential to add a little kick to any outfit (in moderation, of course!). I don't think you'll ever see me in a full head-to-toe neon outfit, but the little touch of neon on my flats adds a perfect balance to the black and tan outfit.

I really wanted to have a creative title for today--I even went so far as to Google "Neon Puns." I had no luck. So, ladies, "Getting my Ne-On" is as close to witty pun as you're going to get from me today.
Just like this fuzzy photo is as close to seeing my hair and face in this post:
Maybe I'm slightly exaggerating about the 150%, but the evidence speaks for itself.
However, if you'd like to see more of me (and my face) today, go over to Simply Sarah and see how I remix a sundress for every season.
XO,

I'm from Oklahoma, and I completely understand the humidity issues! I'm sure your hair didn't look as badly as you thought. :) Moving on: I'm seriously in love with this outfit. I think this may be my favorite outfit on your blog. It's chic; it's flattering; it's zebra! What else can I say? :)
Dossome
LOL on the Spice Girls reference:) I do love how you incorporated the neon on your outfit with the shoes!

I'm not a huge neons fan either (Lisa Frank flashbacks for sure! I actually have a Lisa Frank valentine hanging at my desk at work, unicorn and all), so I tried to incorporate small amounts of it without going overboard. I love that your pop of neon is on your shoes - it's unexpected, and I know I already commented on how much I loved your DIY on the mint pair! :)
I love the peplum, it's such a surprisingly flattering shape.
Whitney, this outfit is stunning. Seriously stunning. I can't stop looking at these pictures! Well done, lady! I love the peplum top and the zebra print and bright toes are fabulous
What a great way to do just a little bit of neon! The outfit is fabulous but has even more personality wiht the snazzy shoes.
I love how you styled this outfit! It looks absolutely fabulous on you!
love the neon pop of color!
These flats are so lovely, perfect teamed with black and tan. I wish we had some heat in the UK, it feels like its been raining for days and this is meant to be our summer!
Awesome neon tip shoes! I love 'em!! They add such a fun pop to this outfit.
I completely agree! I really wanted them when they were at Ann Taylor, but I missed out! I decided to do a little DIY project on some cheap-o flats and I think it turned out alright. :)

The neon trend is growing on me, for sure!
Thanks so much! I adore peplum--it's incredibly flattering!
Thanks, Anne! I definitely think that the neon completely changes the outfit!
Oh my gosh, you're my favorite. This comment made me grin all giddy-like. :)
I agree--I'm definitely loving this trend!
I was a BIG Lisa Frank fan! The fifth-grader in me is so jealous of your unicorn valentine. :)
Neon is definitely one of those trends you have to be careful with! Too much just...burns corneas. haha!
Spice Girls was the most fabulous thing about my fifth grade year. That and my Sony disc walkman. Oh buddy was I cool. ;)
Whew! It's a scorcher across the board, isn't it?!
You are too nice--I am rather fond of this outfit, as well! I might have to redo it during the school year....
I know how you feel about this whole neon thing. I wasn't too thrilled when I saw that EBEW this month was neon...so I did a manicure. Cop out? Yes. But I just think that this is one trend I'm going to sit out. I'm happy to see you found a way to make it yours though without going overboard!
The style of this outfit is impressive.
I've been loving those neon shoes since you first posted about them a few weeks ago!
Love this! The black and white really make the neon yellow pop.
LOVE the pop of neon in this outfit! And that skirt is so much fun :)

love the flats! i see they are DIY...you painted the neon yourself?? i really have to get into this whole DIY thing...
this look is fantastic - i adore your zebra pencil skirt and the pop of neon is just the right accent.
Thank you, Ruby!
I really like the way they look, but they tear up my feet! I think these have to find a new home. :(
Thanks so much, Emily! I am really drawn to black and white outfits and I enjoy playing with the color combos.
I really like the skirt, too! I missed it when it was in the store, but I happened upon one on sale that someone returned from online--I snatched it up so fast! haha!
I did! It was so easy! I just used some painter's tape and nail polish!
Thanks so much! I was a little worried the neon and the zebra would take away from the "classiness" of the outfit--haha!
Absolutely LOVE this outfit!!!
headless or not, i love this outfit. did you have two of this zebra skirt since you let me keep one? i am going to try to pull off a look similar to this! :)
i recently starting using john frieda's 3 day straight... my hair is naturally curly & crazy frizzy, esp in the humidity we get up here. it doesn't keep my hair stick straight, but i can definitely tell that it is effective... so it might be worth a try if you feel like checking it out to see how it might work on your hair!
I actually had two of them! The zipper on this one was broken, so I gave it to my mom months ago for her to fix...and I just recently got it back. :)
I will definitely have to look into the John Frieda stuff...product usually makes my hair oily, so it's a double edged sword for me. :(
Thanks, Alicia! It was surprisingly comfortable!
