Black and White Dots

What I Wore:
Pleated polka dot Skirt: Amazon.com - $40 (bday $) (shop here)
Belt 1: Target - $6
Belt 2: NY&Co - $4
Cap toe flats: Payless - $20
Wedges: Target - $8
Polka dot top: Old Navy - $17
Shorts: Target - $15

I think we all know that I'm obsessed with stripes, but polka dots are starting to really win me over. I mean, I've always liked them, but I haven't really gone out of my way to buy them until I realized that I had to have a black and white polka dotted skirt.

I am a little perplexed about how to wear this top to work because it's so sheer, but I think it's a perfect off-duty top for everything from date time to church to girl time...and these two outfits performed all three of those activities.

So...uh...without becoming a blog that only talks about the weather, the temperature forecast for my hometown is supposed to reach 111 tomorrow. That's right. One-Hundred-Eleven degrees Fahrenheit. You know that you're committed to running when you're analyzing the hour-by-hour forecast to determine the best time to get your work-out in...

Though, it's entirely possible that I might stay inside all day tomorrow and wear nothing.
I won't post that, no worries.

Haha! Oh, come on, why wouldn't you post that? lol Yep, I get up and run at 5 in the morning for that very reason! Well, and because then I'm at work all day and then I'm taking care of kids and cooking dinner, so really, it's the only time I have. =) But anywho, love your polka dots!! Good luck finding a cool time to run today. =)

Love the dots on dots outfit!

I have a very similar top from The Limited and I wear it to work with either a cardigan or a blazer. You can see some examples here and here.

Totally love the double dots look! And 111 degrees is insanity!

I loved the flowing skirt and the shorts both. The pattern is very elegant.

I have worn similar sheer tops to work before with Old Navy tank tops underneath - they help me feel covered and modest around my teenagers.

Love the dots combination! You can never go wrong with a classic polka dot skirt, especially one that you can twirl in!

I love that you posted a spinny-skirt picture. And I love the way the two polka-dot things go together!

i feel like with the shorts outfit you are finally learning your body perfectly. That outfit with the shorts makes your legs look long, lean and sexy. You actually look pretty adorable in that outfit. I would def wear something like that. Oh by the way, those wedges umm what brand are they and how high are the heels?

Thanks, Dayi! The weather is so erratic where I live--I almost can't help but mention it!

haha! Who knows...maybe I will. ;) So far, I've only worn my gym clothes...and I have yet to leave my house. I may or may not get out for a run today...

I've worn it to work with a blazer before, but I wonder how I could style it without a cardigan or blazer and make it appropriate...

I liked it, too! There are unlimited possibilities for this skirt!

I'm thinking I'm not going running today...and I'm also thinking about those ice cream sandwiches in my freezer....

Thank you, Ruby. I'm really attracted to polka dots right now!

I guess I just need to find a good tank with thicker straps to wear under it. I'm so weird when it comes to my work clothes--I don't wear sleeveless tops, so I worry that the sheer top with a tank under it is too much.

Thankfully I could get away with what you're wearing at my office if I wore a wider strapped tank underneath it. Just don't like my bra straps to show!

I completely agree! I've got a lot of plans for this skirt--I can pretty much wear anything and any color with it!

I couldn't resist spinning in the skirt! haha!

I don't think I would've ever put the double dots together before I started my blog--but I am definitely loving the look!

Thanks, Lindsey! I'm becoming a huge fan of double polka dotting! :)

Thanks, Sara. Wedges are a perfect alternative to heels--I walk better in higher wedges than I can stilettos!

These are Merona from Target--and the heel is probably about 3.5''-4''.

Maybe if you had a 3/4 length white shirt to put under it you could wear it at work. I'd wear it with a tank at MY work, but that's a little different than workin' with kiddos!
