The Outfits:
What I Wore:
Shoes: Target - $30
Dress: Target - $7
Cardigan: NY&Co - $4
Necklaces: Forever21 (two of the same necklace) - $6 each
Earrings: Target - $10
Belt: borrowed from another dress
I went for all out prepster this weekend.
I rarely think about my style as being influenced by any Geographical or cultural region, but I
I think these outfits are channeling a "New England" style.
I also think husband is a big fan of preppy--because he complimented both outfits. Don't get me wrong, he gives me compliments all the time, but rarely for my clothing choices--it's not big on his priority list.
These outfits make me want to move to the East Coast. I think I'd fit in alright up there.
What I Wore:
Shoes: Sperry's (circa 2008) - $70
Shorts: Target - $15
Shirt: Polo by Ralph Lauren - hand me down from my aunt
Pearl Earrings: Target - $20

The first one is preppy all right but you look dazzling in second one - gorgeous and ravishing. A definite success.
omg! you look so pretty on that dress; the color is perfect for your skin tone... and that belt adds that perfect extra to your outfit.. :)
Oooh, you look beautiful in that second outfit! I'm an East Coast-er and I approve! Haha! :)
By the way, I'm making my boyfriend buy me the same pleated skirt on Amazon you linked me to the other day, in pink! Can't wait!
The first outfit would definitely fit in here in the Mid-Atlantic area, it is one of my basic uniforms!
Hi Honey,
Love love your teacher outfits and skirts most of all, I'm furiously trying to find Australian stores that stock the same sort of clothing. We have Target over here but it is a different range, but I will start looking! I am 23 newly graduated teacher, from Sydney and its hard sometimes to find teacher appropriate clothing during spring (and part of summer where the school year is ending) where it can get up to 84 degrees on an average day. Loving your skirts but I think Aussie teachers get away with a lot more sundresses and sleeveless tops!
come move to boston. You would fall in love with this city.
I am so jealous of both the fact that you live in Australia and also your dress code. I don't think we have any restrictions against sleeveless tops--I've seen a few teachers wear them, but I just try to avoid them as a general rule. I wish I knew where to tell you to shop--Australia is on my list of places to visit, so let me know if you find any great local shops and I'll be sure to visit them if/when I travel your way! :)

Agreed. I love the simplicity and the balance of masculine/femininity that seems so effortless in the Mid-Atlantic!
Woohoo! Let me know what you think of the skirt when you get it!
And I'm glad an authentic East Coast-er approves! ha!

Thank you!!! I was worried I would look a little washed out with the color--I appreciate the reassurance!
You are too kind, Ruby! Thank you!
